John Main back, but in the bullpen??? (9/23/08 10:07pm)

John Main who was out on a bone spur pitched a couple of simulated games is close to coming back but will be part of the Mets struggling bullpen. Hey I will miss him as a starter but we definitely need help in the bullpen. I just hope what ever they have is not contagious!

Welcome back Ryan Church…

Ryan Church who has been activated from the disabled list on Friday received a standing ovation at his first at-bat in which he got an infield single. Although the outfielders filling in for Church have been spectacular it’s nice to have Church back. It gives the Mets a great bench and (knock on wood) if something should happen to Ryan or any other of the Mets Outfielders we have more than suitable backups. I mean Marlon Anderson needs a break from being the go-to guy all the time.

The Mets get some relief…

Mets acquired two relief pitchers this week.  RHP Luis Ayala and RHP Al Reyes. As you very well know The Mets bullpen has been struggling a lot. With Billy Wagner out indefinitely, the Mets have no steady closer. Eddie Kunz was brought up to help but was sent down after a brief 2.2 innings of work. Kunzwas sent down to make room for Ayala who for the most part has been a consistent pitcher. I think with being in a team like the Metswho are in a pennant race will give much enthusiasm to Ayala who has spent most of his career with the Washington Nationals who have not been good at all. Ayala and A. Reyes have very good stuff but I think needed a team like the Mets to bring it out of them. I guess we will just have to see…

Wagner not ready…

Billy Wagner will remain on the disabled list. Wagner was scheduled to come back off the disabled list Monday the 18th will remain due to discomfort on his pitching elbow. “I wouldn’t say I’m ready,” Wagner told the Mets official website. He will be re-evaluated on Sunday… We will give you the scoop…
