Arguably the best pitcher? Who’s arguing? Well when you classify a pitcher or any player for that matter as the best, what makes them the best? Statistics? popularity? was it their last seasons stats? In Johan Santana’s case last seasons stats would not reflect that. With a 15-13 record.Well with so many factors in baseball how can we consider statistics to be the determinant? In the national league you pitchers face more pitchers at bat. Then consider that the number 8 batter would usually get walked to face the oposing pitcher who is on deck. Now another consideration would be if the right handed pitcher faced more left handed batters then the left handed pitcher who faced less right handed batters. Did I lose you yet?
