Very little support

Santana gets very little run support once again as the Mets scramble to get 4 runs and the bullpen almost gave Johan his second no decision. “I wonder when we’re going to get a base hit, that’s what I wonder,”said Johan who suffered 7 loses last season due to the Mets mediocre bullpen. This season it is the offence that is concerning Jerry Manuel and Santana.

The biggest problems for the Mets is the ability to drive in the runners as they left 13 men on base.

Too close for comfort…

Santana gets the win thanks to an error by second baseman Ricky Weeks who dropped a ball handed to him at first base. The Mets once again have left Johan uncomfortable with run support but got the win. To close it out the Mets, Putz-Frankie, one-two punch have done it again securing the Mets having the best bullpen in the majors!

I guess we will have to live with nail biters everytime Santana pitches…

No love for Santana…

Santana pitches into history with 7 innings, 13 strikeouts but gets a loss! Run support for Johan has become a challenge for the Mets who left Santana with 7 possible wins last season but because lack of runs have possibly ruined his chances of winning the NL Cy Young award the hitting needs to step up!

Johan Santana 2009

Santana looks great for his 2009 debut on 5.2 innings, 3 hits, 1 run with 4 walks. Johan continues his dominance for the Mets who have recently acquired Livan Hernandez to be the 5th starter. Let’s just hope the Mets give him some run support this season!

No setbacks after surgery…

December 14, 2008 Leave a comment

Johan Santana who started rehabilitation the very next day after his arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus has not experienced any setbacks. The Mets after signing Francisco Rodriguez will look forward to a start by Johan and a finish by k-rod. “Based on the way I felt, I knew I’d have to wait until the season was over,” said Santana, who led the majors in ERA (2.53) “I never thought it was going to get any worse, so mentally, once I was able to get the treatment done, I just prepared myself to deal with it.”

We will all be looking forward to the Mets new bullpen and hope to once again put a collapsing ending season behind them.

Shea Goodbye!

Shea Stadium: 1864-2008

Mets say goodbye to Shea Stadium and the playoffs. Thanks for the memories but ends bitter-sweet…

Shea Goodbye!

Mets fans are very different then any other fans. We feel like we are a part of them. We say things like: “We won last night”. What makes Mets fans even more different is that we get hurt when “our” team loses… We don’t try to insult other teams for not making it or bother other fans for their loss we simply feel emotions for “our” team.

We are working on a part of this blog dedicated to Shea stadium. We were there for the last game at Shea and will be posting photos of that memorable night. from the fan point of view. Please check back frequently as we will be including potos and history of Shea Stadium. If you have any photos or videos that you would like to post here please email them to: johanksantana@gmail.com

Johan for President!!!

September 28, 2008 3 comments

If Johan Santana were running for president and the only voters allowed to vote were baseball fans I’m pretty sure Johan would be our next President. Now I understand that to be president you need to be confident… check! knowledgeable of the situation and how to solve it… check! With no time to rest and step up to help your country (Team) check!

“We’re still in the race. It’s not over yet,” Santana said. Can anybody question that he should be in consideration as Cy Young?

Do or Die.. Johan begs for Saturday Start…

September 27, 2008 2 comments

On three days rest Johan Santana will take the mound and keep the hope up for the Mets to find a spot on the post season. According to mlb.com Johan Santana begged Jerry Manuel for the start on Saturday. “I’m all about winning and we’re trying to win every game,” Santana said Friday. “And if that’s the case and they want me to do it, I don’t have a problem with that.” How big is this game? considering all the factors the Mets will need to absolutely win this game! on Saturday September 27th 2008 and who gets the confidence of Jerry Manuel? The Mets Ace and one of the best pitchers of all time. Let’s face it… this is when you think of how a team spends it’s money… I have always said that the pitcher is the most important element to a teams success!!!

Johan is 4-0 against the Marlins all-time but will the offense help Santana win his 5th? After 125 pitches on his last start Johan may not go the distance so either the offense takes pressure off the bullpen or the bullpen does their job… either way this is truly a DO or DIE situation!!!

The Ace delivers…

September 24, 2008 3 comments

Johan Santana has delivered a much needed win for the Mets keeping them from losing their fourth game in a row and keeping them on top of the wild card, furthermore with the loss of the Phillies the Mets are only a game and a half back from first place.

Johan Warming up

Johan Warming up

Johan now goes 16 straight start without a loss. A true ace indeed! If we go by the Mets starters pitching every five games then Johan’s next start should come on Sunday the 28th which is the last game ever at Shea. (I will be there, you should too) If he does not start I will not be surprised if he makes an appearance to be able to help the pitching staff get the win but I think it would all depend on the standings situation by then.
